U.S. Files FCA Lawsuit for Medicare Fraud Against Nevada Hospice

In November 2014, the United States and the State of Nevada joined a False Claims Act lawsuit filed by relator Joanne Cretney-Tsosie, who is represented Whistleblower Advocate attorneys Steve Cohen, Matt Piers, and Juliet Berger-White in conjunction with the Terry Law Firm of Las Vegas, Nevada. The lawsuit alleges that Creekside Hospice II, LLC, a for-profit hospice in Nevada, and its holding company, Skilled Healthcare Group, Inc., defrauded Medicare and Medicaid out of millions of dollars by admitting ineligible patients, altering records to falsely create the appearance that eligibility requirements had been satisfied, and improperly using billing codes that provided higher Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements but were not justified by the services provided.
